Christmas 2014: Day 3 Snowman

For the Snowman prompt, I was racking my brains till I stumbled upon this idea.

I used two K B Shimmer polishes for this prompt. The base is K B Shimmer Witch Way, a deep purple jelly base with a ton of holographic glitter. On this, I layered China Glaze The Outer Edge, a white and silver microglitter, and used K B Shimmer White Here, White Now, a white texture polish, on the tips to imitate snow falling. I also used WHWN for the snowman's face and used acrylic paints in black and orange to draw its hat, eyes and nose.

#TGPNPC Polish You Got For Free: Day 40 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Continuing where I left off earlier, the free polish I've got recently was Dance Legend Phobos. I got it from the company when I ordered some polishes from their site for the first time. Be ready to be dazzled by a multitude of photographs (which of course I took after stamping on it!).

Yep, it is a flakie polish in a duochrome base. It flashes iridescent emerald green to turquoise to purple and fuschia and has scattered holographic glitter, too! This beauty is from the Galaxy collection consisting of eight shades including two limited editions (Mars and Phobos). It comes in a mini bottle like the Holodays and Chameleon collections.

These are three coats of the polish on its own with an SV top coat. Those who want to save up on it can layer it over black.

I just love its superstrong colour shift! Isn't that a emerald colour dazzling? The flakies lie
flat on the nail. It is not as hard at China Glaze Luxe and Lush. Rather, these flakies are
quite soft.

I stamped on it using China Glaze Passion, a gold chrome, and flowers from Konad M24 plate. I experienced no hassles stamping on this.

AIS Sunday challenge: Untried colour combination

I decided to take part in the Adventures of Stamping's Sunday challenge this week. The theme was untried/odd colour combination.

Colorbar Bloo My Day and ChG Glistening Snow stamped with MdU Orange using MoYou Pro XL 23 and Bornpretty star studs

I used Colorbar Bloo My Day, a teal blue creme, from its Quick Finish Range as the base for ring and middle fingers. China Glaze Glistening Snow, an awesome silver holographic micro glitter, was the base for my ring finger and pinkie.

I then used Mundo De Unhas Orange to stamp these pretty flowers from MouYou London Pro XL 23 plate. I used neon blue and neon orange (yes, they are orange. My camera freaked out and turned them yellow) from Bornpretty store to jazz up the manicure.
The stars are extremely cute. I got it from the store when they recently had a discount on nail art studs.

This is China Glaze Water You Waiting For (translucent blue jelly with aqua and blue micro-glitters) from Cirque Du Soleil collection. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS polish that any lover of blue or green must definitely possess.

#TGPNPC Had to have it, still haven’t worn it: Day 9 of Neverending Polish Challenge

Considering this is the Neverending Polish Challenge, many of us would have umpteen polishes that fall under this theme. I had three major lemmings: Picture Polish Kryptonite, Zoya Veruschka and A-England St George (yes, yes, I do realise they are all green). Since St George from the Legends Collection is the first lemming I quenched, here's the STUNNING beauty!

The website describes it as "Bearer of a valiant & courageous heart, this fathomless teal reveals the strength of the brave knight's convictions with his gleaming, fiery core."

St George is a saturated green-leaning teal. This scattered holo is a one-coater! So it is probably better to load up on the basecoat to avoid staining.

I got this before the Royal Mail debacle happened. Though I have the entire Legends collection, I so wish Royal Mail would remove the ban so that I can get my hands on more of Adina's polishes.

I was in a hurry so I did not take standalone photographs of this polish alone. I used Konad M54 to stamp flowers like roses and tulips using China Glaze Passion (a rocking gold chrome polish which is awesome for stamping).
Thankfully, this comes on a Friday and the next challenge is on Monday, so I can wear it a lot longer than the previous manicures.  I loved this manicure, what about you? Do leave a comment below. I read them all.

Totally Doable Challenge: Sweets

Since I am behind on posting the challenges, I am going to keep this really short. This manicure meets Californails's Totally Doable Challenge's theme: Sweets. Since no plates have Indian sweets (jalebis, anyone?), I made do with the foreign version.

By now you must have guessed that pixie dusts or liquid sands or textured polishes are my new love. It combines matte and glitters. What's not to like about it ;)

Twice the fun: Snowflakes and Snowfall

Once again, I get to combine two challenges in one. This one meets the Snowflake theme in the Getting Ready for Christmas Challenge as well as the Snowfall theme by Californails's Totally Doable Challenge.

The base is the gorgeous China Glaze United, a rose mauve textured glitter. I stamped snowflakes with designs from the Bundlemonster Holiday Plates collection.

Double Christmas challenge: Red, Gold and Decorations

The fourth theme in the Getting Ready for Christmas Challenge is Red and Gold. It also meets the Decorations theme from Totally Doable Nail Art Challenge. Red is not really a colour I sport often, I it is sort of a given to wear it around Diwali and Christmas as red is considered auspicious in most Asian cultures.
With the influx of texture polishes, I have a choice of interesting red polishes. I used a gorgeous red as base for this:

The base is Zoya Chyna, a gorgeous dark red with fine red glitter. It looks awesome with and without topcoat. I used China Glaze Passion, a gold metallic polish, to stamp on the decorations. If you do not have Passion, you really need to get your hands on it because it is simply perfect for stamping!

Honestly, I loved my nails after this. The polish, the stamping... everything was looking just so good! That's my opinion. What's yours? Don't forget to leave a comment.

Totally Doable Challenge: Studded

The fourth challenge in the Totally Doable Challenge by Californails is studded. Studs, somehow, always bring to mind metal ones. I ordered some online but it has not landed yet. I guess the Christmas rush is to blame.
However, since I did not have any metal studs, I made do with these cute ones.

I love the simplicity of this manicure. These are some plastic blue studs on China Glaze United, a textured rose mauve holographic glitter. I would classify it as a liquid sand polish. I have no clue why it was not marketed as one.

The pink polish is just perfect to set off the blue studs IMHO. That's it for this challenge. Don't forget to leave a comment :)

Totally Doable Nail Challenge: Mittens

My life's been in a bit of a turmoil. My dad fell critically ill and I spent my Christmas in hospital. The only distraction was the nail art challenges which I achieved on my nails but had no time to post.
Now that my dad's condition is improving, I'll be posting the challenges. This one fulfills the Mittens challenge from the Totally Doable Nail Challenge.

I love textured polishes because of its fast drying quality. This blue is from China Glaze. I tried stamping using a gold polish, but it didn't show up well. So I switched to red.

31DC2013: Day 11 Polka Dots

Day 11 of the 31 Day Challenge thrown by Chalkboard Nails is polka dots. And with that the image that comes to mind is Minni Mouse. But I had already done my share of MM nails. Therefore, I decided to take up something different.
I had once seen a manicure and loved it. I cannot recollect the blogger's name but shall link it as soon as I find a clue. And this is my version of the nails.

Isn't it pretty?
The base is OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh, a clean creamy putty shade that does flatter my dusky Indian skin. The polka gradients are Colorbar Pro, a glowy purple, Deborah Milano Sense Tech 10, a shimmery matte blue, and China Glaze Running in Circles, a glassfleck grassy green.

31DC2013: Day 4 Green

The theme for the 31 Day Challenge thrown by Chalkboard Nails is green. For this, I decided to go matte. There is texture and there is glitter, too.
Check this out:

The pinky and pointer sport China Glaze Winter Holly, a green textured polish. My middle and ring finger show off K B Shimmer Get Clover It -- medium circle glitters in gold, lime green and dark green in a dark green jelly. 
I mattified it using Essie Matte About You topcoat. Ain't it gorgeous?!

My favourite pink

I have entered a new challenge, the Girly Girl Challenge, thrown up by a member of the Indian Lacquer Lovers group on Facebook. And I have taken this up as a joke because anyone who knows me personally would never ever EVER associate the word 'girly' with me. I think I'd take it as an insult, too. But my love for polish has made me very tolerant... sigh. So, here goes...

What's this you ask? The first challenge is to 'Think Pink' and wear my favourite pink polish with nail art. And this is my favourite. Inglot 517, a gorgeous creamy matte pink. 
Isn't it the most elegant colour you've ever seen?!
As much as I use glitter, I have to say I love mattes. Maybe because it satisfies the impatient me. Mattes are polish-and-go polishes. They dry as soon as you apply and there... you're done. Thankfully, this one did not dry as fast as the Zoya, which meant I could apply it more carefully and avoid lumpy streaks.

You would think that glitters and nail art would catch people's eye. But you have no idea the amazing number of compliments I got for sporting this colour! This is such a work-appropriate choice for places that frown on loud nail colours. 
This is two coats. One coat is a bit streaky.
This looks lovely even with topcoat. But since I love the matte look, I kept it as it is.  Which means chipping, a problem with most mattes. 

Sorry for that picture... Just had to put it up to show how I made this manicure last for 10 days.

Yep. Glitter to the rescue. This one is Blonde Bombshell from China Glaze 3D collection. The uneven application is because I thought I could just paint the gradient on than sponge it over. Never again.

China Glaze releases Cirque Du Soleil Worlds Away Collection

I have been seeing photos of the new Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away 3D collection from China Glaze in blogland. These polishes are so unique it is understandable what the excitement is all about.

See, what I am talking about. The third, fourth and sixth polish could have easily been from an independent polish maker's stable. It is amazing how 'indie' productions are changing the way bigger brands are looking at polish.

ChG Cirque Du Soleil display

For this collection, China Glaze has teamed up Cirque Du Soleil to release 12 polishes inspired by the upcoming movie 'World's Away' which also features the artistic troupe.

Whirled Away seems to be a mix of matte white hexagons, matte black hexagons and matte black bar glitters. China Glaze sure seems to have caught on the 'indie' trend of black and white glitters. Considering how pricey indie polishes are, a bigger company making such unique beauties is always welcome.

Get Carried Away seems to be a glittery black nail polish with black and silver micro glitter mixed with larger hexes in red and silver. It seems sheer enough to be layered.

It's A Trap-eze (love the name!) is multi-glitter, kind of like Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday, NYX Carnival and OPI Rainbow Connection) in a white milky base. This is for those like me who love jelly sandwiches but don't want to bother with the hassle of layering on two-three colours. I did create something similar here.

Running in Circles is very fine glitter in a green base

Water You Waiting For is a mix of green and blue glitter in a sheer blue base. It seems to have a mix of fine and medium sized glitter. 

That is it with the glitters in this collection. Now for the cremes/shimmers.

Creative Fantasy is a dark bright purple.

Bend Over Backwards is a shimmery red polish.

Hanging in the Balance is a bright blue creme.

Surreal Appeal is a pink beauty.

Igniting Love is bright red creme.

Def Defying is a chartreuse green creme.

Escaping Reality is a hot pink mama.

Interestingly, the China Glaze Facebook page says the collection will be out on December 1. But they are already available on several online sites including transdesign.com.

I'm a Material Girl

Hi fellow lacqueraders,

I was in a glitterific mood and what better to compliment it with than a glitter polish. Unfortunately, I had to go to office so the bling had to be reigned in a bit. Guess what? I had just the polish for it. China Glaze Material Girl. I wore it with a beautiful pink on white print top.

Isn't this pretty?! It is a slightly dusty pink. Quite demure, actually. This one is from the ChG Eye Candy collection of 2011. Excuse the cap. I got this one cellotaped like a mummy from Stylecraze.com.

Unlike Some Like it Haute which is loaded with holographic glitter, this one is pink glitter (with sparse holographic particles) in a clear base. The glitters are hexagonal, in different shades of pink, and comes in all sizes:  large, small and macro.

The application was relatively easy. What surprised me was how fast it dried! And the clear base makes no difference as this one is packed with glitter, two coats will easily turn it opaque. This polish dries matte and gritty. You can see how texture it is here.






















This can be very irritating for some. I topped it with my Essie Good to Go  which was pretty thick. Two coats and I was set. A thinner topcoat may not work that well. And of course, wrapping the tips is near impossible due to the glitter overload.

The photos don't do justice to this polish. The topcoat made it more glittery and smooth. The texture gives it a 3D effect, as some glitters 'pop out'. Do you like it? Don't forget to leave me a comment below :)
