#TGPNPC Your Best Granny Colour: Day 41 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hello lovelies,

Slowly and steadily I come to the end of the Neverending Pile Challenge. As the title goes, this one is about the best granny colour I own.

He, he, he... that would have been my choice because both my grannies never wore polish in their entire lives. Yes. Not. Once. So, I was dutybound to take that shot :) Since the challenge was about polish, I wore Colorbar Fairylite, a shimmery pink polish that is work-appropriate but in no way boring.

And given the name of the polish, how could I not stamp Snow White? I used QA plate 26 and Konad White for the design and the scroll design stamped on the rest of my fingers. I really liked the polish and the design, both of which looked delicate.

What do you think?

#TGPNPC What Was I Thinking Buying It : Day 26 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

I rarely regret buying a polish because I check out a lot of swatches before I buy something. However, we all go wrong sometimes. And my mistake turned out to be KPT Blood as Thick as Gold.
KPT Blood as Thick as Gold (cold colour) stamped
KPT describes it as "a beautiful rich blood red thermal polish transition to a peach that is filled with gold glass flecks with the additional micro gold shimmer."
KPT Blood as Thick as Gold and Colorbar Mauve Like Me
This polish didn't come cheap and the warm colour looked awful on me. And, I expected the cool transition (seen in  to be 'blood' red as described. But the colour above is what I got. Like I said, my city remains hot most time of the year, so I tried to make it work by layering it over Colorbar Mauve Like Me.
KPT Blood as Thick as Gold and Colorbar Mauve Like Me stamped
I did a skittlette by painting KPT BATAG on the ring finger and painting the other nails with the mauve creme. I then layered a coat of BATAG over the pinkie and pointer.
KPT Blood as Thick as Gold and Colorbar Mauve Like Me stamped
I also stamped over the ring finger with a crackle design from XL A plate using Revlon Sugarplum. Though I fully expected to hate this manicure, strangely I liked it because the layering brought out the pink shimmer in BATAG which added a little zing to the manicure. As you can see in the pictures, there's no colour transition during the cold.
While I wonder why I bought this, I now know I can salvage this polish by layering it over another colour. Which one do you suggest? Don't forget to comment below!

If you google, you will find beauty bloggers raving about their eyeliners and polishes. I went looking for the matte polishes, but found none. Considering they opened just 10-15 days ago, I asked the SA to ask if they were going to get matte polishes. I really hope they do. If not, the eyeliners are ripe for the picking.
Yeah.. buying nothing is never an option ;)
I am just glad about these Diwali bonuses. I hope the other brands take a cue and make a grand entry too. Are you listening China Glaze, Essence, OPI, MAC, Kryolan, Chanel... well, you get the idea.

P.S. If the store has presence anywhere else in the city, do tell me, I shall update it here :)

Inglot's in Ahmedabad!!!

Hi lovelies,

I bear good news. At least for those who live in good old Amdavad. For those Gujaratis who have been praying and cursing the gods alternately for keeping big brands away from our city, there's hope. For Inglot, a renowned international cosmetic company, is finally in Ahmedabad! YAY!!!!

Yes... it is here. At AlphaOne Mall in Vastrapur. Quite close to me too. Double YAYYY!!!
Okay, it is a large stall and not a store. Not yet :) I can always be hopeful.
Just look at those gorgeous colours!!!
I own a couple of Inglot nail polishes. They don't have names only numbers. Sigh.
But I love Inglot 517, a gorgeous creamy pink matte which I used here

I also own Inglot 204, a blue flakie.. yes, they have flakies... which I used for this art.

Isn't it gorgeous!!
I was in a hurry yesterday so just caught one snap of the stall. I am going back today and shall update you on the products available there.
For now, I think this is the only stall in the entire city, but if there are other outlets do let me know in the comment box below :)

For those who don't know, Inglot is a Polish brand that was established over 25 years ago by Wojtek Inglot, a chemist working at that time in R&D department in pharmaceutical company. They launched the world’s first ever Breathable Nail Enamel ensuring better health care for nails whilst enhancing their beauty.
Their unique Freedom System allows customers to experiment with countless shades and colour combinations of different face products, giving them the opportunity to create their own customized colour palette. What more can a beauty addict want?!

31DC2013: Day 4 Green

Hi!

The theme for the 31 Day Challenge thrown by Chalkboard Nails is green. For this, I decided to go matte. There is texture and there is glitter, too.
Check this out:

The pinky and pointer sport China Glaze Winter Holly, a green textured polish. My middle and ring finger show off K B Shimmer Get Clover It -- medium circle glitters in gold, lime green and dark green in a dark green jelly.
I mattified it using Essie Matte About You topcoat. Ain't it gorgeous?!
Are you liking my take on the challenges so far? Don't forget to comment.

31DC2013: Day 3 Yellow

Hi lovelies,

I have got my internet for a while, so I am grabbing this chance to upload as many pictures of the challenge as possible. To ease my life, and put less load on my Internet, I am reposting my pictures from Instagram, so please bear with me.
Day 3 was yellow, a colour I sport very reluctantly. But I really really loved what I ended up with. Want a look? Here...

Isn't it gorgeous? The base is a pastel yellow which I have layered with Lush Lacquer Freckles -- small neon matte glitters in orange, purple, hot pink, green and blue. I could be missing a couple of colours here.
I am glad I layered this polish over a pastel instead of white. It was a beauty alright!
Once the challenge is over, I promise to swatch and review all the glitters and indie polishes I will be showing along the way :)
Would you like that?

Christmas tree nails

Hi lovelies,

You must be wondering at the sudden spurt of activity on my blog. Well, I have decided to get my act together for my favourite festival: Christmas. This is one is for the theme Christmas tree.

I decided to keep these nails sparkly because I live in the state of Gujarat in India, where it is sunny the whole year through. Pine trees are out. We have to do with artificial trees. I used to decorate a tree, made of shiny paper, till someone managed to get me an artificial tree from the US. So, this is in rememberance of my sparkly X'mas tree.

Here's an upside-down shot

I really love how this one turned out. What do you think? Do leave a comment. I would love to read your views.

Colours used:
Colorbar Exclusive 48 (red creme)
Color Club Holiday Splendor (green glitter on accent nail)
Bornpretty loose green glitter
Kleancolor Blind Date (The star accents)

12 Days of Christmas: Red and green nails

Hi sweethearts,

This is my first day of the 12 Days of Christmas challenge. The theme is Red and Green nails. Since I am still new to the nail art world, I have kept it simple.

This is the first time I used the 'glequins' from Bornpretty store. I got the set of 12 glitter boxes they offer for a little more than $6. They are easier to use than what I had expected. The accent nail is CC Holiday Splendor. It is the greener version of China Glaze's Atlantis. The name is so apt to start my challenge with.

Ooh! Ain't the colours Christmassy! Hmm... I am off to get my apple-cinnamon incense sticks and spread the joy around. I would love to hear how you liked this manicure. Don't forget to comment :)

Floating on Floam

Hi lacqueraders,

Do you ever get tired of a colour? I do. Red is my nemesis. Except for Barielle's Elle Spell which I sported here, there has never been a red I could stand for more than two days. And even that is a feat. I usually want to take it off as soon as I put it on *shrugs*.
I love the blue-green combination. Therefore, it was a surprise for me when I could not figure out what the hype about Floam was all about. I got Sticks and Stones from Ninja Polish and added Floam to the basket just to see why bloggers were going so gaga about it. Well, now I know... and how. Be ready to be picture-bombed!

Isn't this a beauty?! This polish was first frankened by Amy from the blog I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous. But Ninja Polish started producing it later with her permission.

It has matte green and neon blue glitter with a smattering of yellow, too, in a clear base. The polish is thick, but it dries fast and hard. This one did not chip even after I sported it for over eight days! Do wait in between coats to avoid bald spots.

Since this polish has been around for some time now, I learnt that it was very hard to get off. So I layered it over my blue peel-off polish. This polish can be used as a layer polish with one coat or lend full coverage with three coats.

The finish is slightly gritty. The matte glitters do not shine. But I loved the way it looked and did not topcoat it. Also, like with all glitters, this one cannot be wrapped around the nails either. But that should not be a problem with this beauty's amazing staying power!

This is such a striking polish, everyone, and I mean absolutely everyone, will take notice. It has a very tropical feel. The photos do not do justice to its neon-iness. It will definitely grab eyeballs and compliments!
Here's a macro shot to drool over:

Product: Floam

Brand: Nail-Venturous/ Ninja Polish

Qty: 15 ml
Price/Availability: $9 (Rs 500 approx). It is not available in India. Can be ordered through Ninja Polish.

Neon tips

Hi lovelies,

I am keeping this post short. You've already seen the colorful and bright Colorbar polishes that adorned my nails here. And this is what I had in mind when I painted each of my nails a separate colour.

L to R: Colorbar Bubbly, Pina Colada, Twisted Peach and Lime Margarita
I taped off the tips and used Colorbar Exclusive 76 (black creme) to cover the rest of my nails (Yes, I did tape off a bit too much on my pinkie). The result is an easy but funky manicure. The best part: You can keep this manicure for a week if you paint them in colours that dominate your wardrobe :)
You can also try this if you are not confident of carrying off such bright colours. My friends loved it, what about you? Don't forget to leave me a comment below!

Product: 76
Brand: Colorbar
Range: Exclusive
Colour: Black
Finish: Creme
Qty: 9 ml
Price/Availability: Rs 150 (Available at Colorbar stores, local stores selling Colobar brand and online stores like Urbantouch.com, violetbag.com, purplle.com, snapdeal.com, myntra.com, flipkart.com and others)

Blinding neons

Hi lovelies,I have shown you dark and light polishes, simple and glittery polishes. Now it is time for some brights! Neons, to be precise. These are from Colorbar's 'Cocktail Brights' Collection. I got it from the Colorbar store at AlphaOne Mall in Ahmedabad. Damn! Living close to a mall does no good to the pocket ;)

L to R: Colorbar Bubbly, Pina Colada, Twisted Peach and Lime Margarita

The product description is interesting:Colorbar introduces an intoxicating line of Bright Neon Nail Paints, an intoxicating collection of nail-paint hues inspired by cocktail colours. Adding additional sizzle to the drizzle season, Cocktail Brights include plush plum and envy green, with bursts of bright pink, cheeky yellow, orange and blingy red.

So find your favourite lacquer from Pina Colada (neon yellow), Lime Margarita (neon green), Bloody Mary (neon magenta), Plum Grenadine (neon purple), Tangerine Mojito (neon orange), and Pink Lady (neon pink). It is long lasting and its toluene free formulation protects your nails from turning yellow. With extreme gloss it is guaranteed to brighten up the dullest of days.

Colorbar collection: Bubbly, Pina Colada, Twisted Peach, Lime Margarita, Bloody Mary

I bought Pina Colada, Lime Margarita and Bloody Mary thinking I had Colorbar dupes of the remaining three. But I was wrong. The ones I left behind were way brighter (of course!). The bottles are pretty sturdy with a silver cap. Interestingly, this collection has stickers in the same colour affixed to the top.

Bubbly, Pina Colada, Twisted Peach

Second shot:

Twisted Peach, Lime Margarita, Bloody Mary

I had a simple but colourful manicure in mind, so I swatched them each on a finger. To fill the gap I used Bubbly (bright pink) on my pinkie and Twisted Peach (coral) on the middle finger from Colorbar's quick finish range.

Bottle: Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary on my thumb. It looks blood red in the bottle. On the nail, it is a different story... erm... colour.

The polish dries fast and does not chip easily. True to neons, these colours are sheer. It can be called a crelly because it is not a true jelly. The trick is to layer them on white to bring out its full effect. You can use these on their own, but it might take you 3-4 coats for an even finish.
The brush is just right,  neither  thin as in the Quick Finish bottles nor thick like the Pro range. These are such perfect summery shades! Though I wish they had introduced a blue, too. But even these polishes  can brighten up any winter day (My excuse to splurge). Bring out the sunglasses!

I am a fan of Colorbar simply for the amount of colour it has introduced for our tips.
So do you like neon colours? What do you think about this range? Don't forget to leave me a comment :)
