AIS Sunday challenge: Untried colour combination

Hi lovelies,

I decided to take part in the Adventures of Stamping's Sunday challenge this week. The theme was untried/odd colour combination.
Colorbar Bloo My Day and ChG Glistening Snow stamped with MdU Orange using MoYou Pro XL 23 and Bornpretty star studs
I used Colorbar Bloo My Day, a teal blue creme, from its Quick Finish Range as the base for ring and middle fingers. China Glaze Glistening Snow, an awesome silver holographic micro glitter, was the base for my ring finger and pinkie.

I then used Mundo De Unhas Orange to stamp these pretty flowers from MouYou London Pro XL 23 plate. I used neon blue and neon orange (yes, they are orange. My camera freaked out and turned them yellow) from Bornpretty store to jazz up the manicure.
The stars are extremely cute. I got it from the store when they recently had a discount on nail art studs.

#TGPNPC Blue: Day 33 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

Blues! Man, this contest can have blue (or even greens) as a challenge for another 40 days and I could meet it without any trouble. This time, I'll show you an indie polish from one of my favourite brands: Different Dimension.
Different Dimension Da Ba Dee layered over Cuccio Cobalt Blue
This super sparkly beauty is Different Dimension Da Ba Dee, a blue jelly choked with different sizes of silver and blue holographic circle, hex and square glitters.
Different Dimension Da Ba Dee layered over Cuccio Cobalt Blue
It was so sparkly I was glad I used it as accent nails. I swear I could have blinded myself with the bling :)
Different Dimension Da Ba Dee layered over Cuccio Cobalt Blue
Since it was pretty glitter-heavy, above is just ONE coat!, I did not want to layer it 3 times to get it opaque. Instead I layered it over Cuccio's Cobalt Blue, a dark blue shimmer matte from its Precious Metals Collection. I did slide around the large glitters a bit as my nails have a nice curve.

Here's a macro of Da Ba Dee. Ain't it purdy?!

#TGPNPC Untried Stamping Plates: Day 22 of the Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

Of all the nail art styles out there, I love stamping the best. So, it goes without saying that I own quite a few plates. And, of course, there are many that I have not used.
Stamping: XL C plate with W7 Salt N Pepper, Milani Silver FX

This one is an amba (mango/paisley) design from XL C plate. I got this and two more XL plates through Kejal from nailartandthings.blogspot.com. Thank you Kej, these plates are really good.
Stamping: XL C plate with W7 Salt N Pepper, Milani Silver FX
I used different polishes on my nails:
Pinkie: I dabbled 2 coats of Milani Silver (silver hexes in clear base) from their Jewel FX collection. Boy! I was blinded by the glaze. It shone like an armour. I have wowed to paint all my nails with it one day :)
Ring and Middle: I used a generic white
Pointer: I used W7 Salt N Pepper, a creamy white base with black matte glitter, which looks like, what else, salt and pepper of course :D
This look caught a lot of attention. What do you think?

#TGPNPC Frosty: Day 4 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

The theme for day 4 is frost. It is a finish disliked by most nail polish lovers. Here is Colorbar 03 Exclusive, a silvery grey with a subtle pink-blue duochrome.

Colorbar 03 Exclusive
This polish could be the poor cousin to A-England's Princess Tears. As you can see below, it has the same colour and duochrome, but loses out on the holo effect.

Colorbar 03 Exclusive

This colour is very work-friendly (maybe I should make a separate category for work-appropriate polishes, what say?) and beautiful to look at.

Colorbar 03 Exclusive
Application can be a pain though. The formula is smooth, but the drying time can test the patience of an extremely impatient person like me. Or is this a problem with all frosts? Do tell.
Stamping on Colorbar 03 Exclusive
Since I managed to dent the polish, I ended up stamping on it with Colorbar Amethyst using a zigzag pattern from XL A. And as per Murphy's law, the topcoat melted the stamping. In IRL though, it was not so very evident so I left it at that.

Here's what the challenge entails:

#TGPNPC Glitter: Day 1 The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

Like every polish lover, I have my share of untrieds. I felt guilty looking at them, till my good friend Dhara from The Happi Therapy told me about the Neverending Pile Challenge by Missy of Gnarly Gnails.
If you're interested in joining, it's running through a group on Facebook called the Glittah Pirates. The point is to use the polishes you bought with love, passion and hardearned cash, but never got around to wearing them. I have way too many of them gathering dust, so here goes....

OPI The Living Daylights Matte
The glitter is OPI The Living Daylights from the 2012 Skyfall collection. I mattified it with OPI Matte Top Coat. Here's the glossy version.
OPI The Living Daylights Glossy
The Living Daylights is a glitter topper with a mix of silver, light gold, teal and copper (or is it peach) metallic hexes in a clear base. As you can see here, it can be used sparsely for gradients, or for full nail cover just as easily.
These are actually two untrieds here. The base is the very cheesy sounding Pinky Pamper, a pastel nudish pink, from the Colorbar Quick Finish range.

If you are interested in the challenge, here's what is in store:

Getting Ready for Christmas: Blue and Silver

Hi lovelies,

This post meets the Blue and Silver theme from the Getting Ready for Christmas challenge. It gave me an opportunity to wear a beautiful blue matte polish.
This one is I'd Rather Be With Blue, matte light blue with a beautiful silver shimmer.

I wish I had taken a close up of the polish before stamping on it. It is a gorgeous light blue. And matte, which means, quick drying ;)

I stamped this using stars from Winstonia plate and a Revlon Chrome polish. Hope you liked it.

Polish used:
K B Shimmer I'd Rather be with Blue (matte light blue)

For Stamping:
Polish: Gilded Chrome from Revlon's Top Speed range

Glitter Overload

Hi lovelies,

Today's title reveals what it is all about. Glitters! And what a sparkly one this is. And, it fulfills the criteria for Getting Ready for Christmas Challenge's Glitter Overload theme as well as the Totally Doable Nail Challenge's Lights theme.

This is Toast-ess With The Mostest created by Christy and Valesha from Peachy Polish for K B Shimmer. It is a clear glitter topper loaded with circle and hex glitters in shades of gold, silver and pink to mimic champagne. It is a glitter bomb.
Though one coat is enough, I layered on two for these Disco '82 nails. Thus, fulfilling the TDNC's Lights challenge. I used Colorbar XXXX as the base but it is all covered up! Just look at the holo-ey shine.

Frankly, this is waaaaay too much for me. I do not like busy polishes much. So I was sceptical when I saw the bottle. But boy, one non-loaded coat was enough for me to fall hard for this polish. It complements all colours, light and dark. The micro holo glitters fills up the gaps left by the large glitters beautifully. This one is a definite winner.

Product: Toastest with the Mostest
Brand: K B Shimmer (Indie polish)
Collection/Range: Winter 2013 Blogger Collection
Colour: Clear base filled with gold, silver and pink gliters in holo circles and hexes
Finish: Gritty
Qty: 15 ml
Price/Availability: (Not available in India. Can be ordered through Harlow)

31DC2013: Day 19 Galaxies

Hi lovelies,

I envy people who can get galaxy nails right. I, for one, do not have the patience to sponge on 10 different polishes to achieve the look. While there are many indie polishes that can give a galaxy effect like the one here, I decided against taking the easiest way out.
I decided to take an easier way out :)

I did accent nails by layering a black polish, then using a couple of Revlon polishes, I used the dry brush technique to give the green, blue, purple effect which is more visible in the photo below. Then, I stamped silver stars on it :)

The glitter nails are a black base layered with Different Dimension Wish You Were Here as well as Drops of Jupiter.
If you liked it, do leave a comment below :)

Colours used:
Base: VOV black

Galaxy effect:
Revlon Streetwear Icy Blue (blue)
Revlon Streetwear Aqua Divine (turquoise)
Revlon (scented) Grapefruit Fizz (pink-purple shift)

For stamping:
Polish: Revlon Budding Chrome (silver)

Plates: Konad M14 (stars)

31DC2013: Day 16 Tribal print

Hi lovelies,

Day 16 of the 31 Day Challenge is tribal nails. While everyone was doing tribal art from America, I wanted to focus on an Indian art form.
Can you guess what it is?

Yes... I chose Warli art (Read below for more on this form).

Ideally, I should have used a brick red background for obvious reasons, but I had just got my hands on this beautiful purple with a reddish golden shimmer (not evident in the pic :() and was compelled to use it. Who knows better than you guys what that feeling is ;).
Since I was running late on this manicure and was already in office, I had no acrylics or brush to paint the design. Aah, well Indians are not known as jugaadus for no reason. I improvised and used a silver gel pen to freehand the design on it. I was not quite sure how the other challengers would view this 'strange' print. To my surprise, it received quite a few likes. Well, what do you know!

Base used:
OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI

For design:
Silver gel pen

ABOUT WARLI:
The Warlis or Varlis are an indigenous tribe or Adivasis, living in mountainous as well as coastal areas of Maharashtra-Gujarat border and surrounding areas. They have their own animistic beliefs, life, customs and traditions, as a result of acculturation they have adopted many Hindu beliefs.
In the book The Painted World of the Warlis Yashodhara Dalmia claimed that the Warlis carry on a tradition stretching back to 2500 or 3000 BCE. Their mural paintings are similar to those done between 500 and 10,000 BCE in the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, in Madhya Pradesh.
Their extremely rudimentary wall paintings use a very basic graphic vocabulary: a circle, a triangle and a square.Their paintings were monosyllbic. The circle and triangle come from their observation of nature, the circle representing the sun and the moon, the triangle derived from mountains and pointed trees. Only the square seems to obey a different logic and seems to be a human invention, indicating a sacred enclosure or a piece of land.

Diamonds are a girl's best friends

Hi lovelies,

This post is for the second part of the Girly Girl Challenge that a Facebook group had thrown up. The challenge is called 'Gimme That Bling'.

For this, I have gone back to my favourite combination of blue and green. This is Deborah Milano no 03 which is a flat, matte navy blue polish. I layered with NFU-Oh 52, a blue jelly jampacked with green flakies.

I applied LA Colors Sparkling Diamonds, a mix of micro and medium hex glitters, on the tips to bling it up.

The lighting is dim in this one, but I had to show you how gorgeous it looked even in the dark! Do you like it? Don't forget to leave a comment.

Deck the halls...

Hello fellow lacqueraders,

When Crumpet's Nail Tarts put up Festival of Lights as a theme, I was slightly confused because in India, Diwali is the Festival of Lights. But I guess in Christian countries, that would be Christmas. I combined it with  Plump and Polished's theme 'My Favourite Carol/Song'and Polished Art's theme 'Deck the halls' because in my house, the lights decorate my hall. Only a star adorns the outside.

For my ring finger, I found a konad stamp that I thought looked quite like candle holders. And the pointer is decorated with ornamental bulbs.

I used a silver, metallic green and metallic pink for the three bulbs on my pointer. I now realise I should have used some other colour instead of pink, which looks just silver in the pictures. My hall is also decorated with silver bells and beautiful bows. Even though we do not get holly in my part of the country, I just could not avoid using it on my nails :)
Liked my manicure? Do leave a comment below and do not forget to check out my other nail art.

Polishes used:
Deborah Milano Sense Tech no 3 (matte dark blue)

For stamping:
Revlon Gilded Chrome
Plates: Konad M74 (candles), Bundle monster 318 (ornamental lights), Red Angel 121 (bow), Konad M12 (bells and holly)

Day 1: Going dot-ty

Dots! This is the first of the nail art challenges thrown by Puja at cutenailstudio.blogspot.in

Like she advised, I am keeping it simple :). Black and white. There's nothing more simpler.
So, here goes nothing!

Ta da! Too simple? Frankly, I am just grateful that I managed to post something. First I could not get decent pictures. This, I made do with my mobile phone o_O. I have been trying to upload my creation since yesterday but was quite unsuccessful due to my finicky internet connection. Finally, luck favours me :)

Colours used
VoV White
Colorbar Black
VoV silver striper
VoV top coat
Two gold flower stickers (for the thumbs)
And a blunt pencil to add the white dots B-)

I had no base coat so I used the top coat as base :P. Am I the only one who does that or are there others out there like me?

This is my first attempt at nail art. So, what do you thing of the design? I would love to read your comments.

Thank you :)
