Today's manicure is about cramming as many untrieds in one. My manicure could easily have stood for the theme: metallics. How many polishes I used for this -- 17 (pats my back)!!!

Use as many untried in one manicure: Colorbar Metallic Nail Lacquer

 The base for the manicure are metallic polishes from the new Colorbar Metallic range and one from the Quick Finish Range. (Sorry for the fuzz on my pointer. I noticed it only while processing the pics by which time it was too late to change anything).

 

I painted my nails half and half. Listed here are polishes -- first left then right. All polishes needed just one coat (except for the silver):
Pinky finger: Bejewelled (metallic hot pink) and Mammamia (metallic hot red)
Ring finger: Pink Smith (coppery pink) and Red Diamond (coppery red) 
Middle finger: Silver Lining (silver) and Haute Copper (this name is deceiving. It looks more like olive green)
Pointer: Blue Thunder (light blue) and Starry Knight (dark blue)
Thumb: Green Bling (green) and (damn! I'll get back to you on this forest green) from their Quick Finish Range.

Another look at Many Untried polishes

This picture makes the difference in polishes on the pinky and ring finger clear. I wasn't very neat as I was planning to put another stripe down the middle.

 For the middle stripes, I used the following polishes which are matte in texture:
Pinky finger: Zoya Harlow (purple rose matte) on Colorbar Bejewelled and Colorbar Red Diamond  
Ring finger: Deborah Milano Sense Tech no 09 (greyish brown matte) on Colorbar Pink Smith and Colorbar Mammamia 
Middle finger: Colorbar Treasure (metallic gold) on Colorbar Silver Lining and Colorbar Haute Copper Pointer: Cuccio Cobalt Blue (a shimmery dark blue matte) on Colorbar Blue Thunder and Colorbar Starry Knight 
Thumb: Faces Canada Green Matte (shimmery green matte) and Colorbar Green Bling and Colorbar (damn! I'll get back to you on this one) from their Quick Finish Range.

 I stamped all the nails down the middle with flower, criss cross and feather patterns on my from XL plate R. I lined them on each side with Revlon Golden from their Fast Dry range and an unnamed bright pink (middle finger).

 These are all the polishes I used. Phew!!! How did I do? Those who saw my nails liked the design on the middle finger the most, and the colour combinations on the pinky, ring and thumb. What about you? Do leave a comment below.

Getting Ready for Christmas: Blue and Silver

This post meets the Blue and Silver theme from the Getting Ready for Christmas challenge. It gave me an opportunity to wear a beautiful blue matte polish.
This one is I'd Rather Be With Blue, matte light blue with a beautiful silver shimmer. 

 
I wish I had taken a close up of the polish before stamping on it. It is a gorgeous light blue. And matte, which means, quick drying ;)

I stamped this using stars from Winstonia plate and a Revlon Chrome polish. Hope you liked it.

31DC2013: Day 8 Metallic

Hi,

A week of the 31 Day Challenge thrown by Chalkboard Nails is over. The theme for day 8 is metallic.

I used only Revlon polishes for this one. The base is Aqua Divine, two coats of a teal shimmery base, on which I stamped using Gilded Chrome.

Magnificient nails

Today I bring to you a polish that was true to its name: Magnificient Sea by Colorbar. I say 'was' because Colorbar was foolish enough to replace my glowing blue beauty with a crappy dusty blue Frankly, I would have loved the new colour if it had been launched as a new bottle instead of replacing the old one. But that was not to be. Sigh.

 See what I mean when I say glowing beauty? I really don't know what to call this shade of blue. It belongs to Colorbar's Pro range. The brush is wide, which might be problematic for people with small nails. I find it a bit unwieldy, too.

I had taken these pictures a while ago and even posted one on Facebook. However, since it never made it to the blog, I am rectifying my mistake.
This will probably be the only time you see this polish here because I broke my bottle accidentally after I applied it just once. Boohoo... But I am saving the photograph here (hopefully) for posterity :P

As you can see here, I stamped it with Revlon Earthquake using a plate from the new Bundlemonster set. Revlon Fast Drys are pretty neat to stamp with.
So, did you like this colour as much as I did? Pssttt.... if any of you have an unused bottle of the old Magnificient Sea lying somewhere, you know where to find me :)

I apologise for being AWOL. If you've been following my blog, you will know about my finicky internet connection. I decided to take another recourse so I would not lose you guys. I am blogging from another computer.
My blogger friend Dimpal Rathore from Crazy Polishes started a new Facebook group called Indian Lacquer Lovers. The nail art posted by some members are so ah-mazing, you have to see it to believe it. To cut a long story short, Dimpal came up with the idea of having a regular Friday feature for ILL. So, here goes...

Isn't this a beauty? Green jelly gorgeousness. 

And squishy holo-ey gorgeousness. 

If you haven't guessed till now, this beauty is NYX Enchanted Forest twice layered over Revlon Forest Green. 

 Enchanted Forest has tiny, medium and large holographic glitters in a thick, light green jelly base. Application was easy though you might have to fish out the large glitters. The thick base ensures that the glitters look suspended instead of sitting flat on your nails. 
The Revlon Forest Green is a green forest green creme. It dries darker than the shade in the bottle. It is not a one coater. Two thick coats should do the trick. WARNING: It stains like a biatch. I loved this combination but the Revlon stained my nails YELLOW through two coats of peel-off polish! UGHH!
Oh, btw, if you are looking to buy the NYX, there are two versions out there with this same name. Be sure you are getting the chunky glitter and not the fine glitter polish.

Deck the halls...

Hello fellow lacqueraders,

When Crumpet's Nail Tarts put up Festival of Lights as a theme, I was slightly confused because in India, Diwali is the Festival of Lights. But I guess in Christian countries, that would be Christmas. I combined it with  Plump and Polished's theme 'My Favourite Carol/Song'and Polished Art's theme 'Deck the halls' because in my house, the lights decorate my hall. Only a star adorns the outside.

For my ring finger, I found a konad stamp that I thought looked quite like candle holders. And the pointer is decorated with ornamental bulbs. 

I used a silver, metallic green and metallic pink for the three bulbs on my pointer. I now realise I should have used some other colour instead of pink, which looks just silver in the pictures. My hall is also decorated with silver bells and beautiful bows. Even though we do not get holly in my part of the country, I just could not avoid using it on my nails :)

Frosty Snowmen nails

Pink & Polished and Overpolished threw snowmen up as a Christmas challenge. 

I had planned on doing some other design for my nails. After seeing how this turned out, I am kicking myself for not following through with my original idea. Time dictated that I stamp instead of paint and the end result proved to be disastrous as you can see here. But since I did not have time to redo it, here's my sorry excuse of a manicure :(

Nothing really worked out for me. The snowflakes would 'flake' off and the red/white snowman I had planned on the accent nail just could not take the heat. It melted  :P

Candy Canes and Gingerbread Man

It is red, white and Christmassy. Yup, candy canes it is. 

Day 3 challenge hosted by Pink and Polished and Overpolished is Candy Canes. This combined beautifully with the Crumpet Nail Arts' Day 2 challenge of Candy Canes and Gingerbread Man as well as Plump and Polished's Candy Cane challenge.

The candy cane on my pinkie has melted ;) thanks to a highly uncooperative XL stamper. I somehow seem to manage better with the Konad stampers. Strange. Has that happened to you?

Candy canes seem to be an integral part of Christmas. But they are not easily available in India, if it is available anywhere at all. Every time I see pictures of them, I wonder how they taste. I imagine them to be cinnamony or pepperminty. (Is there such a word?). How do they taste?

Even gingerbread can't be found in bakeries here. Though to be frank, there aren't very many bakeries in my city. But with the Indian market opening up to foreign goods, I hope to see them soon sometime :)

White Christmas, Snowy Christmas

How are you doing? Today I bring to you snow white nails. Erm, they are not exactly snow white, but you get the idea :) 

As you know, I am taking part in a couple of challenges at the same time. Sometimes, they all work out together. Today, Pink & Polished Challenge (Day 2) threw up Favourite Holiday Song while Crumpets first task is themed snow/snowflakes. The Holly Jolly Challenge (Day 2) for next Monday is 'Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow' while Plump and Polished (Day 3) seeks a tape manicure. 

So can you guess my favourite Christmas song? One of my most favourite bands is Boney M. I love all their Christmas renditions but my favourite is 'White Christmas.' I just love this song. Maybe it is because it never ever snows in Ahmedabad. In fact, it is bloody sunny even in winters as you can see  from the above picture :( 

This song is how I imagined they celebrated Christmas in the cold countries. Such beautiful lyrics: Where the treetops glistened and children listened to hear sleigh bells in the snow!

I used craft scissors, scotch tape and A-England St George to create my abstract treetops covered in snow. Here's an upside-down shot of the snowed-in world :)

Wishes and celebrations

Hi fellow lacqueraders,

In India, we celebrate the Festival of Lights (as it called) by bursting crackers, drawing rangolis, meeting each other and wishing each other love and prosperity. I had painted my nails red and gold, but later, I stamped over it...

I stamped them with Revlon Gilded Chrome. My pinkie had diamonds (BM 09) and ornaments(OB 13) to show prosperity, the boom (CH 47) on the ring finger, the starburst (BM 202) and the explosion (BM 02) for the celebrations.

 The middle finger contained a design symbolising rangoli (BM 214). For those who don't know,  rangoli are decorative designs made using flowers, rice powder or coloured powder on the floors of living rooms and courtyards during Hindu festivals. Rangoli designs can be simple geometric shapes, impressions of deities, flower and petal shapes (appropriate for the given celebration), or  they can be very elaborate designs, too. These are drawn free-hand.

The pointer had peace and love wishes (OB 11).

I wore this pretty mehendi green colour from Zoya called Shawn. To jazz it up, I tried stamping. The result turned out to be pretty awesome....

Once again, I used Revlon to stamp. This one is Gilded Chrome, a silvery golden polish. I turned to Mash 41 for the interlink design. 

In sunlight

This is not tipwear. I used a fast dry polish and it shrank the manicure. It also dragged the stamping on some nails. Thankfully, both these things were not noticeable in real life.

Zoya Indigo stamping

Today, I have brought a beautiful stamp to you. It's a kairi (paisley print for non-Indians) from the new Bundlemonster pack.

Yes, this is my right hand. Funnily, this one stamped better on my non-dominant hand than on the dominant one. Or did it really?
When I was a kid I used to write with my left hand. But since that was not considered a 'good' sign, my parents forced me to write with my right. So, it is a bit of a toss-up as to which really is the dominant hand ;)
I used Revlon Orchid Chrome to stamp the design on Zoya Indigo base. Indigo, as the name stands, is a deep blue polish with holographic glitter. The necessary bottle shot.

You can see the holographic glitter here. But frankly, it is quite sparse. And the polish is so thick, the colour so dark that the glitter fails to shine through. It only ended up making the finish bumpy.

Nothing that a topcoat won't solve. But this one was a disappointment. There is nothing that makes this one unique :(

Happy Friendship Day! This is a day that my fellow beauty bloggers at The Beauty Cafe on Facebook were looking forward to eagerly. They formed a 'Secret frand' list and sent out gifts to each other, sharing their love and admiration. This manicure is for them :)

What's this, you ask? Let me explain....

 The pointer shows the Secret Friends. As cozy as two strawberries in a pod. I know, I know, it is supposed to be peas. But hey, strawberries are sweeter and cuter. And these totally look like they have gone undercover.

Sorry I could not get a better picture of this. I realised I should have kept the base more simple, but I really wanted to get the most out of the Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light ($18 polish just cannot be wasted o_O ). The stamps are gift boxes, some of which contained chocolates :) And other goodies.

Lips & lipstick: Bundlemonster 303

The girls gifted each other lipsticks, shower gels, creams, liners and so many many other wonderful things. These were all so thoughtful because they read each other's blogs and tried all methods (overboard and underhand ;) ) to zero in on the perfect present!
Way to go! The girls are extremely friendly, gracious and accepting. So, this post is being dedicated to them. Keep loving!

Swatch: Revlon Powder Puff

Soon after turning into a polish and nail art addict began my quest for the perfect white. During my search, I was attracted to Revlon Powder Puff. It could have been the name (who does not want to be the Powerpuff Girls bashing all the baddies) or that it proclaimed to be a matte suede.

This polish is definitely not matte. In fact, it is also not a pure white. Rather, it is a sheer milky colour with an ice blue flash. 

Can you see the blue? Unfortunately, even this does not translate onto the nails. 

It is neither a creme, nor a jelly. Application was not a hassle. The polish was a bit runny but  it did not go on streaky like Faces (review soon). The first coat left bald spots. This is three coats but the polish is so sheer there is visible nail line (I do not mind it, so not a problem). Each coat took about 2-3 minutes to dry. The consistency, of course, means it is useless as a stamping polish. But it did wear well. I had it only my nails for 8 days!
