My first award.... and more

I know, I know. This is my second post in a day. But after reading through, even you will agree that it deserved a post of its own. After all, I had to thank all the lovely and generous bloggers who graced me with their awards. YAAAAAYYYY!!!!

And THANK YOU Shilpa Gandotra for giving me my first award. Take a look at her blog at Our External World.

This award comes with a set of rules:
  • Put a link to who gave you the award.
  • Put the award on your post.
  • Choose 5 blogs with under 200 followers to receive the award.
  • Let them know you awarded them.

So, this post will be modified as soon as I identify such bloggers.

My second award is from Niesha of Indian Beauty Forever. Thank you sweetheart for such an honour :)

The third is a Lovely Blog Award from Shilpa Gandotra of Our External World again. Thank you for your encouragement.

I feel so blessed and so privileged to have gained such kind and appreciating friends in the blogosphere. Thank you all once again!

Missing in action

Hi lovelies,

First, let me apologise for disappearing without warning. I was on a well-deserved break and the last thing on my mind was to step into cyberworld. It was my first vacation in four years, and my destination was Bangalore.

After the hot and humid weather of Ahmedabad, Bangalore's cool climes was a blessed relief. The second I landed back, I felt I had been slammed back by the heat. My body was still tuned to Bangalore weather :P But I am glad to be back in Ahmedabad as I was missing my buddies terribly.

I had lots of fun. I hope you had too during this period. I have lots of posts in waiting. Will update you guys soon :) For now, here is a view of the Sabarmati from atop Patang Hotel. If you guys ever visit Ahmedabad, please do visit this hotel. The food is okay but the view is to die for. And do you know its USP? It is a REVOLVING hotel!!! Have you ever been to one?

Take a look:

As you eat your food, the platform revolves to give you a 360 degree view of Ahmedabad.  This, of course, is from the tinted air-conditioned confines of the restaurant. Believe me when I say you would be fried if you were standing outside :) Once the Sabarmati riverfront project is completed, this is going to be one awesome sight! What say?

Sari mani-a?

Hi guys!

I used to think nail art would look good only on long nails. Till I visited www.fingerspolishmania.com. This nail art addict has got really short but beautiful nails. And she does what she calls 'funky' french.
One of her recent posts reminded me of a silk sari my mom owns. It is a beautiful peach intervowen with gold threads and a brown pallu with holographic sequins.
Since I am new to blogging and do not know if I can upload a picture of the manicure without offending her, do visit http://www.fingerspolishmania.com/2012/05/my-designer-holo-mani.html to check the manicure.

And here are a couple of shots of my ma's silk sari....

Part sun, part shade:

One with the pallu (drape):

And the design on the pallu:

A closer close-up:

Isn't the holographic sequins awesome? One would think brown is such a dull colour. But it makes for an awesome combination with peach. What do you guys think?
Don't forget to comment.

Cheers!

Day 5: Jelly sandwich

Hi,
Today is day 5 of the nail art challenge thrown by Puja Malhotra of cutenailstudio.blogspot.com. The theme is copycat. While I have not deviated majorly from the artwork, as you can see below, I have not followed the instructions to the tee.

Take a look at the original (http://www.doridavis.com/essie-marshmallow-milani-gems/):

And here's my creation:

Another shot (now you can see the shooting star, cute ain't it):

Yet another shot :)

As you can see I have stamped the jelly sandwich with a shooting star on the ring finger. I love how the sandwiching has toned down the glitter enough so I could wear it to office (yeah, I work crazy hours but the dress code is pretty relaxed).

The colours I used:
VoV White (for the white base)
NYX Carnival (multi glitter filling)
LA Colors Sparkling Diamonds (silver glitter filling on the ring finger)
Revlon Powder Puff (for the top white coat)
Stamping: Konad plate m33

Thank God, it is the last of Puja's challenge because I just do not feel like changing this mani for a week.
Though I am also sad to see the challenge end as I connected with many lovely bloggers out there.

Don't forget to comment if you liked/disliked my manicure.

Day 4: Bow-wow!

Hi,

The fourth challenge thrown by Puja Malhotra of cutenailstudio.blogspot.in is bows, not the ones to string arrows, you silly! Bows are ladylike embellishments. And who can be more ladylike than Minnie Mouse :) White on red polkas always remind me of this gentle, brave, bold beauty. So, here's my inspiration and creation for today's challenge.

Minnie Mouse...

My manicure...

With a little embellishment

The colours used:
OPI Just A Little Rosti At This (Deep Red french base)
Colorbar Exclusive 76 (Black bows)
VoV white (for dots)
NYX Carnival (for the bling in the bows)

While I personally am not in love with bows, here is a site (Update your fashion wardrobe with bows) I stumbled on how bows can boost your fashion quotient.

Please excuse the imperfect nails and the bad photography. But do comment on how you liked this take on bows.

Day 3: Dripping chocolate

Hi,

Sweets, toffees, cakes, ice-creams: This is the third challenge thrown by Puja Malhotra of http://cutenailstudio.blogspot.in. After thinking a lot, I knew I had to do something with chocolate. I had some pretty candy cane and lollipop nail art stickers, but I felt it would be just 'too easy' for a challenge.
Having racked my brains, melting in this summer heat, I decided to take a walk, landed up at the local ice-cream parlour and found my inspiration in a chocolate-covered butterscotch cone. Without much further ado, here is what it translated into.

Sprinkles on the accent nail and thumb...

Please excuse if the photographs aren't up to the mark. I am learning. Tips are welcome :)

Now, the inspiration for my mani: {This is a Google version, of course! Who keeps an ice-cream waiting? ;) }

The colours used:
Maybelline Colorama in Nude for the base colour
Street Wear Shine Divine in Chocolate for the drip
Maroni Yellow and VoV stripers in light blue and red for the sprinkles

I was determined to be one of the first ones of the challengers to post my manicure this time, so that I make up for my delayed first post. I am pretty happy with what I achieved. What do you guys think?
Show me some love. Comment on this post and join me if you like my work :)
