Christmas 2014: Day 5 Ice blue and white

Hi lovelies,

For this prompt, I did something that was more wintery than Christmassy.

The base is Polish Me Silly Caribbean Dreams, is a light blue to darker blue thermal polish with smaller blue and silver holo glitters. I stamped on it with MoYou London Princess Plate Collection 13 XL. Doesn't it look like icy winds blowing on a desolate landscape?

The colour shift in this thermal was very subtle. But I quite liked the mix as it is. And, it wears strong too. I took this photograph on the fifth day of wearing it. Says a lot, huh?

Christmas 2014: Day 4 Santa/Elves

Hi lovelies,

I have been posting less text as I have been completing the challenge but am hardpressed for time to blog. So, please follow me on Instagram @indianlacquerade where I upload pictures regularly and more than what I blog about.
Coming to the challenge, this week's prompt is Santa and/or Elves. I decided to go with a simple manicure.

I used Glam Polish Coven, a a rich red scattered holo with red holo hex glitter, and Conjuring, which is Coven's emerald counterpart. Both polishes are from the Cast a Spell collection.
I used OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Honey Ryder and Colorbar Red Earth to draw the pompoms.

This manicure was well-liked on Instagram. How about you? Do you like this manicure? Don't forget to leave a comment below.

Christmas 2014: Day 3 Snowman

Hi lovelies,

For the Snowman prompt, I was racking my brains till I stumbled upon this idea.
I used two K B Shimmer polishes for this prompt. The base is K B Shimmer Witch Way, a deep purple jelly base with a ton of holographic glitter. On this, I layered China Glaze The Outer Edge, a white and silver microglitter, and used K B Shimmer White Here, White Now, a white texture polish, on the tips to imitate snow falling. I also used WHWN for the snowman's face and used acrylic paints in black and orange to draw its hat, eyes and nose.
Here is a closeup of the base KBS Witch Way. Isn't it gorgeous? Don't forget to leave a comment below.

Christmas 2014: Day 2 Trees

Hi lovelies,

The Christmas tree prompt turned out to be quite interesting for me. Instead of the usual red, green colours, I opted for green and gold.

I used Faces Lyon, a green texture polish on my pinkie and pointer, and L A Girls Sands of Time, a gold texture polish on my middle and ring fingers. I then layered China Glaze Fairy Dust over Lyon. It took away the textured effect but I loved it this way too.
I stamped on it using MoYou_London Festive 01 with China Glaze Passion (gold) and A-England St George (dark teal). I love the way this looks, what about you?

Christmas 2014: Day 1 Snowflakes

Hi lovelies,

This is for the first prompt #Snowflakes for the Challenge Your Nail Art and #Glitter for Nail Art Dec.

Gradient of DD Imitation is the Biggest Form of Flattery and Glam Polish Bewitched stamped with MdU white
This is such a delicate-looking manicure.
Gradient of DD Imitation is the Biggest Form of Flattery and Glam Polish Bewitched stamped with MdU white
I created a gradient of Different Dimension's Imitation is the Biggest Form of Flattery and Glam Polish Bewitched. Then I stamped with Mundo De Unas White using snowflakes from a host of plates from Bundlemonster, QA, and MoYou London.
Beautiful, isn't it?

Christmas Nail Art Challenges

Hi lovelies,

Yes, I have started on more nail art challenges. This time, I'm trying my hand at three of them. Actually, the attempt is to kill two, erm three, birds with one stone as most of the prompts overlap.
The main and biggest challenge is:

The second is:
The last prompt which anyone can do is:
So, care to join me?

#TGPNPC The Ugly Duckling in the Set: Day 43 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

I finally finally FINALLY come to the end of my epic The Glittah Pirates Never Ending Pile Challenge. And the prompt is The Ugly Duckling in the Set. I rarely buy the entire set, and it is rarer for me to buy something I do not like. But I did goof up when I bought Colorbar Exclusive 07.

This is a burnt maroonish brown colour. I liked how it looked on the bottle. But on my nails, BLEH!

Of all the Colorbar polishes I own (And, they are quite a sizeable number), this is the only one I did not like in the least bit. I plan to use it as the base for some nail art.

Here's a closer look. The bubbles were the fault of my topcoat which was acting funny. And please forgive the ugly cuticles. I had injured my nails and couldn't touch them with enduring a lot of pain. But all's okay now :)
So, for once, I managed to complete an entire challenge, even if it took me months! But then again, in my defence, there never was a time limit to this challenge. I am just glad I stuck out till the end :)

#TGPNPC Dupes! Match Untried with Tried: Day 42 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

Rolling towards the almost end of this challenge, we have a dupe match untried with tried challenge. And I present to you Zoya Veruschka (swoon!) v/s Faces Green versus Matte.

Here's a shot with the bottles included. I used Veruschka on the two middle fingers and Faces on the pointer and pinky.  After Picture Polish Kryptonite, Zoya Veruschka was one polish I had my heart set on. Unfortunately, it came out nearly 2 years before I got addicted to polish and there was no way I could lay my hands on it. Evil Bay was out of the question. So, I prayed (yes, I tend to do that for polish) and God heard (Thank you!) :) Zoya relaunched its Matte collection and I added Veruschka, a backup (as if I was ever going to finish 1 bottle), Savita (purple), and Posh (red) to my small collection of Zoya Mitzi (chartreuse green) and Harlow (magenta).

But there was a time in between that I decided to get hold of Faces Green versus Matte to satisfy my lemming. And I need to thank my dear friend Dhara from The Happi Therapy for being an enabler. She got me most of the Faces Matte range. This was before Faces launched a counter in Ahmedabad.

As you can see, while Faces is a beautiful polish but it cannot match Veruschka's gorgeousness. Veruschka is darker than Faces. Veruschka is pretty opaque in one coat. I used two for perfection. Faces need three to four coats to be opaque. And the biggest bummer: It STAINED! Through two coats of nail polish! Now, that is something I can do without.
I then layered both polishes with L A Girl Crowd Surfing, a sheer apple green polish with fine green glitter and green/orange flakies
So, what did you think of this comparison? Don't forget to write your thoughts below.
Thanks :)

#TGPNPC Your Best Granny Colour: Day 41 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hello lovelies,

Slowly and steadily I come to the end of the Neverending Pile Challenge. As the title goes, this one is about the best granny colour I own.

He, he, he... that would have been my choice because both my grannies never wore polish in their entire lives. Yes. Not. Once. So, I was dutybound to take that shot :) Since the challenge was about polish, I wore Colorbar Fairylite, a shimmery pink polish that is work-appropriate but in no way boring.

And given the name of the polish, how could I not stamp Snow White? I used QA plate 26 and Konad White for the design and the scroll design stamped on the rest of my fingers. I really liked the polish and the design, both of which looked delicate.

What do you think?

#TGPNPC Polish You Got For Free: Day 40 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

Continuing where I left off earlier, the free polish I've got recently was Dance Legend Phobos. I got it from the company when I ordered some polishes from their site for the first time. Be ready to be dazzled by a multitude of photographs (which of course I took after stamping on it!).

Yep, it is a flakie polish in a duochrome base. It flashes iridescent emerald green to turquoise to purple and fuschia and has scattered holographic glitter, too! This beauty is from the Galaxy collection consisting of eight shades including two limited editions (Mars and Phobos). It comes in a mini bottle like the Holodays and Chameleon collections.

These are three coats of the polish on its own with an SV top coat. Those who want to save up on it can layer it over black.

Add caption
I just love its superstrong colour shift! Isn't that a emerald colour dazzling? The flakies lie
flat on the nail. It is not as hard at China Glaze Luxe and Lush. Rather, these flakies are
quite soft.

I stamped on it using China Glaze Passion, a gold chrome, and flowers from Konad M24 plate. I experienced no hassles stamping on this.

A close up of my thumb so you can see the flakes, glitter, shimmer and multichrome going on in this polish.

 Colour shift, YAY!

Yet, another colour shift!

And, how can flakies not be mattified? If you reached the end of this post, congratulations. In all fairness, I did warn you that I went click crazy ;)
Hope you liked this post. Don't forget to leave a comment!

#TGPNPC Polish Whose Name You Cannot Pronounce: Day 39 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,
It is uncanny how taking up a polish challenge immediately attracts a mountainload of work at office. Anyway, moving on to the challenge (I am determined to finish blogging about it even if it takes me into my old age doing so), I do not really own polishes with tongue-twisting names. The hardest one I could think of was Model's Own Sardonyx.

Model's Own Sardonyx with topcoat
This is from its Velvet Goth collection. It is a deep red base packed with tiny red and black glitters. It applies glossy and dries to a matte finish.

Model's Own Sardonyx with topcoat
It gives off a 2D effect but is not rough on the nails. The bottle has an interesting velvet lid.
Model's Own Sardonyx without topcoat
I used a golden bow sticker on my accent nail. What do you think of this manicure? Don't forget to leave a comment.

#TGPNPC Neon: Day 38 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

I am back to posting for The Neverending Pile Challenge. For the neon prompt, I paired my Colorbar neons with a new K B Shimmer polish I got.
KBS Mixed Peelings
This is KBS Mixed Peelings – A creamy off white polish with citrus- and fruit-coloured glitters in neon green, lemon yellow and watermelon pink.
Though the green and yellow somehow got lost in the white, the pop of pink lifted this polish and made it perfect for summer.
KBS Mixed Peelings

I initially teamed it with a gradient using Colorbar Pina Colada, Lime Margarita, and Pink Lady from its Cocktail Brights Collection. And stamped sunglasses on it using Konad White and Cheeky plate CH37.
KBS Mixed Peelings and Colorbar Caliente Coral
However, I felt the neon pink did not match the watermelon pink hexes in Mixed Peelings so I changed the accent nail to Colorbar Caliente Coral, a peachy coral creme, from its Quick Finish Range. I stamped a flower design using Konad White and XL plate M. This polish matched the glitter perfectly. So, I managed to use three polishes for this prompt.

I really love how my thumb looks. There are very few challenges left, all of which I completed a while ago, but will upload soon. Stay tuned.

AIS Sunday challenge: Untried colour combination

Hi lovelies,

I decided to take part in the Adventures of Stamping's Sunday challenge this week. The theme was untried/odd colour combination.
Colorbar Bloo My Day and ChG Glistening Snow stamped with MdU Orange using MoYou Pro XL 23 and Bornpretty star studs
I used Colorbar Bloo My Day, a teal blue creme, from its Quick Finish Range as the base for ring and middle fingers. China Glaze Glistening Snow, an awesome silver holographic micro glitter, was the base for my ring finger and pinkie.
Colorbar Bloo My Day and ChG Glistening Snow stamped with MdU Orange using MoYou Pro XL 23 and Bornpretty star studs
I then used Mundo De Unhas Orange to stamp these pretty flowers from MouYou London Pro XL 23 plate. I used neon blue and neon orange (yes, they are orange. My camera freaked out and turned them yellow) from Bornpretty store to jazz up the manicure.
The stars are extremely cute. I got it from the store when they recently had a discount on nail art studs.
If you liked this, don't forget to leave a comment below :) Until next time, ciao!

#TGPNPC Dirtiest Named Polish: Day 37 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

This prompt called for the Dirtiest Named Polish but I don't own any :( The only one 'dirty' enough in my collection was Colorbar Rust Lust. Then, there is Colorbar Flirt.
Colorbar Flirt stamped with Color Club Cosmic Fate
It is quite sad that with a name like Flirt, this pinky peach nude creme is just another granny colour. I had actually chosen this for the granny colour prompt till I realised that I did not have any other polish that sounded naughty, forget dirty :P
Colorbar Flirt stamped with Color Club Cosmic Fate
I used Color Club Cosmic Fate, a peach holo, to stamp a flower web pattern from XL plate on it. And voila, the nail art proved to be an equal flirt, hiding in the shadows and showing its full glory when the light hit. Just check out the flare in the holo!
Colorbar Flirt stamped with Color Club Cosmic Fate
My favourite turned out to be the thumb which clearly shows the flower pattern.

Hope you liked it :)

AIS: Yellow base

Hi lovelies,

Some of you might know that I am a member of Adventures in Stamping, a stampaholics group on Facebook. They have a challenge for every Sunday, and this week, it was doing nail art on a yellow base.
Since yellow is a colour I do not use regularly, I thought it was a good idea to meet the challenge.
Colorbar Sun Blaze stamped with BM 206 using MdU White

I used Colorbar Sun Blaze, a bright buttery yellow, from the Quick Finish range as my base. As with most yellows, this one was streaky despite all my careful ministrations. But when I added a coat of Wet N Wild Kaleidoscope -- a clear base filled with holo micro glitters, to add some sparkle, the polish levelled out.
And then, I went ahead and smudged by middle finger real bad. So, I layered a coat of Color Club Gingerbread, a gold-based holo glitter to cover up my mistake.
Colorbar Sun Blaze stamped with BM 206 using MdU White

Since it was a stamping challenge, I used the flower buds image from BM 206 and stamped with Mundo De Unas White. This toned down the 'yellowness' of the polish, and made it more wearable for me :)
How did you like this manicure? Don't forget to drop a line.

Indian Independence Day

Hi lovelies,

I'll make this short and sweet. This is the manicure I did to celebrate India's 68th Independence Day on Friday, August 15.

The base is Faces White Knight, a silver beige matte polish, on which I stamped with Mundo De Unas Green, Orange and Papyrus (a light cream).

I used two stamps from BundleMonster 406 plate for this design.I used my new neon orange (I know my camera freaked out) and neon green studs from Born Pretty Store to jazz it up a bit.
I also submitted it to Indian Lacquer Lovers on Facebook where nail bloggers have put up their creations to celebrate the Indian Independence Day.

#TGPNPC Gold: Day 36 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

For this prompt, I bring you my first MAC polish. And it is very special also because it was a gift from lovely Dhara who blogs at The Happi Therapy.
MAC Sinfully Sweet
This is Sinfully Sweet from the MAC Indulge Collection of Fall 2013. This limited edition polish is described as 'sparkling champagne with gold pearl'. It means the polish is a gold shimer mixed with warm gold flecks.

MAC Sinfully Sweet

Though gold, the colour is not in your face. And it goes with most of your outfits. I really liked this polish, hope you do too.

#TGPNPC Brown: Day 35 of The Neverending Pile Challenge

Hi lovelies,

The next theme for the Neverending Pile Challenge is Brown. I do not have a lot of brown polishes. Probably because I do not think they'll suit my skin colour. But there is this one polish that stole my heart: Femme Fatale's This Fruitcake is Not a Lie.
Femme Fatale's This Fruitcake is Not a Lie layered over Inglot 346
The Fruitcake... is part of FF's Christmas 2013 Trio."A burgundy brown jelly base filled with shimmer brown and caramel along with magenta squares, chocolate hexes, and accents of red and green. Definitely a festive shade, this colour was inspired by the tradional fruitcakes served during the holiday season," states their website.
Femme Fatale's This Fruitcake is Not a Lie layered over Inglot 346
The polish was packed with glitter. I layered it over Inglot 346 (warm dark brown with golden shimmer) as seen on my pointer and pinky. The two polishes seemed made for each other.
Here's a close up of all the lovely glitters in this gorgeous polish. It dries a bit textured as you can see in this picture. Two coats of Seche Vite should take care of the problem.
How many colours can you spot? I haven't had a proper fruitcake but after owning this polish, I definitely want to get my hands on some :)
Did you like this polish? If so, do leave a comment below.
